Indra Nooyi is an Indian native chief executive officer and chairman of the PepsiCo and Global Supply Chain Leaders Group (GSCLG) has named Indra Nooyi as the CEO of the year 2009. List of the companies that are listed in Fortune 500 is compiled by the US magazine and Indra Nooyi is also among those 13 women who are at the controlling seats of these companies.

Indra Nooyi was added into this list by US magazine last year as the head of PepsiCo and on this year’s annual list of Fortune 500 companies which is made on the basis of their annual revenues , 175th position has been given the beverages company PepsiCo. One more woman has been added to list of women CEOs in this year’s list.

The name of the newly entered woman CEO is Lynn Elsenhans, CEO of Sunoco a US based firm. Supporting and promoting socially responsible practices of the business are included in the list of key contributions of Indra Nooyi. She is also contributing against the most pressing problems of the planet like the change in climate, announced by the group on Monday.

The efforts of PepsiCo towards providing wider portfolio of beverages and nutritious foods are also being instrumented by the Indra Nooyi. Her strategy of multi year growth “Performance with Purpose” is evidenced of her commitment towards global citizenship. The CEO of the year 2009 award has been presented to Indra Nooyi and this is awarded to those individuals who achieved the highest aggregate ratings in developing, leading and maintaining sustainable business practices in the global operations of the business.
