Hebephilia refers for the teenage youths to a sexual preference of adults. First time this term was used in 1955 by the Glueck. Sexual preference for the individuals is referred as ephebophilia in mid to late teenage years and pedophilia that actually refers for prepubescent to the sexual children and Hebephilia is differs from these two.

Hebephilia is used for those people who preferred pubescent aged individuals for sexual preferences over adults and the proper definition of the hebephilia is to cause someone to be interested in sexual preferences in teenage children instead of adults. A series of research articles has been published by a team of Canadian sexologists comparing clinical samples of pedophiles, teleiophiles and hebephilia of biologically relevant characteristics.

This research was made on the individuals with a sexual preference for adults. In these samples the men categorized in hebephilia are mentioned in mid way between teleiophilic men and pedophilic men on average IQ in which pedophilic men scored the lowest. The men with hebephilia outnumbered the pedophilic men according to the correctional and clinical samples of sexual offenders.

Moreover according to the survey reports conducted on the people interested in children for sexual activities, pubescent children are more interestingly attracted than the prepubescent children, as per the more frequent reports.
