Caster Semenya is a South African athlete woman who when won the title of world champion in 800 meter final tonight, the athletics world went into controversy by asking her to go through a gender verification test to prove if she is a woman or not. Caster Semenya is an eighteen year old athlete from South Africa and never competed outside Africa.

But when she won the gold medal in 800 meter final and made a world record tonight, she actually stimulate doubts as she never competed outside Africa and did not participate in any mega event before this week. Tonight Caster Semenya won the gold medal with a fastest time 1 minute and 55.45 seconds in Berlin which is also a best record in the 800 meter women run for this year.

Janeth Jeposgei stood second with a margin of 2.45 seconds in this competition and the bronze medal has been won by the British runner Jenny Meadows. Caster Semenya is actually from Polokwane, Limpopo province and have unusually developed frame of muscles. She has also a deep voice. The record made by her tonight is also three quarters of a second faster than the best record of Kelly Holmes’s career.

It has also been confirmed by the International Association of Athletics Federation’s (IAFF) spokesman Nick Davies that gender verification test has been requested to Caster Semenya after her last month run in the middle of fears that Semenya should not be allowed to participate in the junior world championship as a woman.
